<p>I like &#8220;weird.&#8221;</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve always been a bit on the fringe side of the fence if you know what I mean.</p>
<p>A bit of a rebel.</p>
<p>So were guys like Einstein, Mozart, and Picasso. Not that I&#8217;m putting myself into their category of genius by any stretch&#8230; but I love their approach to life.</p>
<p>     BE BOLD&#8230;OR GO HOME.</p>
<p>Makes sense to me. This life it too darn short for anything less than being bold.</p>
<p>That means taking some risks here and there. That means taking action while the others are content to sit on the couch being the same person they were yesterday.</p>
<p>And the day before&#8230;</p>
<p>And the month before&#8230;</p>
<p>And the year before.</p>
<p>Do you want to live your years like that? Or do you want to dive into life? Be the greatest &#8220;you&#8221; possible?</p>
<p>Then be a bit of a rebel.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s some &#8220;rebel tips&#8221; for fatloss I think you&#8217;ll enjoy&#8230;</p>
<p>     REBEL TIP 1<br />
     Flip The Food Pyramid Upside-down</p>
<p>The USDA&#8217;s Food Pyramid is an utter joke. It&#8217;s origins stink up the joint, let me tell you.</p>
<p>First, the grain industry was in a pinch when the Food Pyramid was created. And wouldn&#8217;t you know it&#8230; the grain industry increased their &#8220;contributions&#8221; (read: bribes) to certain politicians to get placement atop the pyramid&#8230; or in this case at the very bottom. The &#8220;foundation&#8221; if you will.</p>
<p>Just think about this for a moment:</p>
<p>The USDA wants you to eat (gasp) MORE starch than vegetables? More bread than fruits, lean meats, and hormone-producing fats?</p>
<p>Are they NUTS??</p>
<p>Yes&#8230; they are nuts. (Which, by the way, are no where near the foundation&#8230; nuts, that is.)</p>
<p>You&#8217;d be better off flipping the sucker upside-down.</p>
<p>That would look like this:</p>
<p>40% of your cals from healthy fats 30% of your cals from protein 30% of your cals from carbs</p>
<p>Roughly, that is.</p>
<p>Sounds&#8230; rebellious, right?  Well it is.</p>
<p>Too bad I have the science (and the abs) to back it up.</p>

<p>     REBEL TIP 2<br />
     Cardio Is Not Smart-ee-o</p>
<p>At least the way the so-called "experts" want you to do it.</p>
<p>Look: This isn't rocket science. Just walk into any gym...take a look at the folks who only do cardio work for 45-60 minutes every day.</p>
<p>Do they look any different from year to year?</p>
<p>Let me save you some time:  NO. They do not.</p>
<p>Cardio (unless you are into endurance sports) is a waste of energy done this way. First, it increases your carbohydrate cravings. For most people that's not a good thing. Why? Because cardio at this pace burns mostly SUGAR, not bodyfat.</p>
<p>What do you want to burn?</p>
<p>Exactly. Bodyfat.</p>
<p>Finally, cardio is no where near as efficient as resistance training at dissolving bodyfat... and certainly not even CLOSE to resistance training when it comes to shaping lean muscle and getting the look all these cardio bunnies are after.</p>
<p>Now, I 'do' have a rebel cardio trick... and it takes 9-15 minutes 2-3 times a week to perform.</p>
<p>That's it. And you get ALL the benefits heart-wise of long-session cardio. I got the tip from fitness guru Jon Benson.</p>
<p>Combine it with some brisk walking and my overall fitness plan and presto: No more bodyfat.</p>
<p>Here's what is cool:  He put his new in-home version of this resistance-based workout online for a few days at a major discount... but it's only for people who pick up this program.</p>
<p>This is completely illustrated with photos too... and you do not need anything but resistance bands and perhaps some cheap dumbbells to do this in-home. Or you can use the gym-based workouts (included with videos.)</p>
<p>Train like this just 3-5 days a week and you can kiss long, boring cardio goodbye.</p>
<p>     REBEL TIP 3<br />
     Do Not Overwork Your Abs</p>
<p>Here's a mistake I see most people make in the gym: They do endless sets of crunches, leg raises, and (gasp again) sit-ups... all geared toward seeing those toned abs they want.</p>
<p>Guess what?</p>
<p>Waste of time.</p>
<p>In fact, it's worse than that... it can literally shut down your recovery ability. You'll slow your progress in the gym (or at home)... and your fat-burning too.</p>
<p>And you may give up your plan entirely because of it.</p>
<p>Here's the brutal truth:  Ab 'muscles' are easy to build. It only takes about 3 minutes 2-3 times a week... that's it.</p>
<p>( Note: Jon included "3 Minute Abs" in the fitness book I just told you about... it's only for those who get EODD though... )</p>
<p>The muscles are not what make your stomach flatter... it's the nutrition plan folks.</p>
<p>You're just building muscle underneath layers of bodyfat... not good.</p>
<p>Jon says he does very little direct ab training. When he does it's usually 3-5 minutes tops 2 days a week. And his abs are... well... killer. : )</p>
<p>Bottom line: Rely on resistance training and Jon's special "favorite foods dietplan" to get and stay lean.</p>
<p>So be a rebel.</p>
<p>Thumb your nose at the establishment and step out on your own.</p>
<p>Trust me: You'll be a leader in every sense of the word if you do.</p>

<p>Fair warning &#8230; this one is a rant. It&#8217;s probably a bit long, but take the time to read it. </p>
<p>I have some things to get off my chest &#8230; and a lot of people reading this will find it refreshing.</p>
<p>We have a problem in this country&#8230; hell, this world&#8230; with people overeating.</p>
<p>Obviously overeating is one of the primary reasons people are struggling with bellyfat and excess bodyweight in general. The solution to this problem is not &#8220;don&#8217;t eat so much&#8221;, although that is the end goal.</p>
<p>The solution is to really, REALLY understand how your body uses fuel and how to create a diet plan that allows you to take advantage of it.</p>
<p>First, my rant.</p>
<p>You want to know why 99% of the people who fail to see results from my dietplans&#8230; or any dietplan for that matter&#8230; REALLY fail?</p>
<p>They don&#8217;t understand how smart and powerful their bodies really are.</p>
<p>Look&#8230; no dietplan on earth will allow you to eat whatever you want every day. That&#8217;s fatloss suicide. </p>
<p>No pills will cure this. No surgery. </p>
<p>Only this will cure it:</p>
<p>     Use your body&#8217;s own internal appetite mechanisms to your advantage.</p>
<p>I receive hundreds of emails every day from people who see results from my Every Other Day Diet plan. </p>
<p>But I won&#8217;t lie to you:  I also get emails from people who do not. </p>
<p>Welcome to the real world, right?  Some people succeed, others do not. It&#8217;s the same story no matter what your goals may be.</p>
<p>But in fat loss, the difference between success and failure, at least in the case of my readers, is NOT the dietplan&#8230; it&#8217;s the need to fully appreciate how and why it works.</p>
<p>Let me explain&#8230;</p>
<p>Here is a picture of me (excuse the quality; this was snapped with a mirror and a cellphone&#8230;)</p>

<p>Obviously I have abs&#8230; and I&#8217;m lean&#8230; and because I love to lift weights I also carry a lot of muscle&#8230; but the real power behind this picture is what you do NOT see:</p>
<p>&#8211;>  You do not see what I ate the night before;  half a pizza.</p>
<p>&#8211;>  You do not see how obese I was ten years ago&#8230; yes, 70lbs over-fat with a belly that looked like I swallowed a basketball.</p>
<p>&#8211;>  You do not see how I set my body up to receive this pizza and actually get leaner after eating it.</p>
<p>In case you think I&#8217;m on some magical dietplan or taking some fatburning-stimulants&#8230; wrong. </p>
<p>I just woke up 5 years ago after studying nutrition for 15 years and finally put 2 and 2 together.</p>
<p>So, here&#8217;s the facts.</p>
<p>My <a href="http://www.everyotherdaydiet.com/go/wpmann01">EODD Plan</a> is built around a simple concept:  Eat your favorite foods &#8220;frequently&#8221; and still drop the bodyweight you want. </p>
<p>And it works&#8230; not because it&#8217;s a gimmick, but because it uses the science of metabolism, natural hormonal manipulation, and psychology to prepare your body to eat more calories.</p>
<p>Now those calories could easily come from, say, three yams&#8230; but I prefer pizza. ; ) </p>

<p>First, EODD never promises you that you can eat however MUCH you want every other day (or in my case, since I&#8217;m athlete, every three days)&#8230; no, no, NO!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s whatever you want&#8230; not however MUCH you want. That is the sole reason a small fraction of my readers are not seeing the results they want.</p>
<p>Now, here&#8217;s the beauty of it all:</p>
<p>After about 3 weeks following my System of eating, you simply cannot overeat&#8230; well, you can, but you&#8217;d have to force-feed yourself in order to pull it off.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve been feeding yourself frequently for the day or two before your favorite food meals. The higher protein and very low starch content of the nutrition plan (with plenty of veggies) ensures that your body&#8217;s metabolism stays elevated. BUT&#8230; and this is crucial&#8230; the amount of food consumed on these days before is not that much.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m never starving&#8230; I eat too frequently for that, plus the foods on <a href="http://www.everyotherdaydiet.com/go/wpmann01">my Plan</a> curb your appetite. But I am not eating anywhere near my maintenance level of calories. I do not count calories (nor should you)&#8230; I just follow the System, which does the calorie-counting for me. Plus I know my body really well after all these years.</p>
<p>So, after days of eating enough to keep my metabolism relatively high, and right BEFORE it starts to slow down (your metabolism slows when you do not eat enough, bringing fatloss to a rapid halt) I hit the body with a lot of calories.</p>
<p>BUT&#8230; at the right time, and never at certain times. </p>
<p>And, please read this:  I do not eat &#8220;however much&#8221; I want on my feed meals&#8230; I eat WHATEVER I want in reasonable portions. I don&#8217;t have to fight to not overeat, even when it&#8217;s pizza or burgers (my two favorite cheat meals.) Why? Because my body is set up to want more food, but also trained not to eat too much food at one sitting.</p>
<p>This is because I&#8217;ve been &#8220;grazing&#8221; &#8212; eating small, frequent meals the days before my feed day. And the body learns to adapt&#8230; quickly.</p>
<p>The brain is actually re-trained to signal the stomach that you&#8217;ve had enough food&#8230; yes, even when it&#8217;s dessert, or pizza, or whatever your favorite food may be.</p>
<p>So here&#8217;s the deal:  Yes, you can lose all the bellyfat and bodyfat you want eating like this&#8230; but like anything else that works, you have to follow a few simple rules. </p>
<p>The result is a dietplan where you never feel trapped. You always know that tomorrow, or possibly the day after, you can have whatever food you want. Just in reasonable amounts.</p>
<p>If you ask me, this is the perfect trade-off. No starvation, super-healthy eating at least 4 days a week, and you get to eat your cake as well (literally if you want.)</p>
<p>It&#8217;s not magic &#8212; it&#8217;s science, and a bit of work on your part. Yes, work. </p>
<p>Nothing happens with effort. But put some effort into <a href="http://www.everyotherdaydiet.com/go/wpmann01">this System</a> and boy&#8230; there&#8217;s not a better dietplan on the face of the earth.</p>

<p>Now, one more thing:  I do take a few supplements to help the process along. I have a video on the Member&#8217;s Only page that explains what I take and why. </p>
<p>The good news:  Not one of these supplements are stimulants or dangerous. In fact they&#8217;re all very healthy nutrients the body needs.</p>
<p>In conclusion, I like to think of <a href="http://www.everyotherdaydiet.com/go/wpmann01/video">The Every Other Day Diet</a> plan as &#8220;The Thinking Person&#8217;s Dietplan.&#8221; Anyone who considers every angle of what it takes to shed bodyfat:  Food you enjoy, freedom, a plan that&#8217;s easy to follow, and flexibility will recognize this right away as the ideal approach.</p>
<p>But, like all ideal approaches, it requires you to re-think the way you eat. </p>
<p>You eat for fuel&#8230; period.  But you CAN (and should) eat for pleasure too. As long as you keep FUEL as the main reason you are eating in the forefront of your mind, your body (and mind) will follow. Your body will adapt and begin to use both healthy and &#8220;not-so-healthy&#8221; foods as fuel.</p>
<p>Fuel to power your workouts, help you burnoff that bellyfat and bodyweight you don&#8217;t want, and empower your sense of control.</p>
<p>Especially now, with the holidays upon us, &#8220;food as fuel first; food as pleasure second&#8221; should be carved into your dinner table. Because, let&#8217;s face it:  When all that holiday overeating is over with, you will be left with a bigger belly, feeling sluggish, and just one more step away from the body you desire.</p>
<p>My alternative offers the best of both worlds. You just have to be willing to re-think some things and give your body a few weeks to re-learn what it already knows &#8211;</p>
<p>When to signal you that you&#8217;re full, and way before you overeat. And, believe it or not, you can (and should) do this by eating your favorite foods each and every week.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the only way to keep your MIND satisfied and happy. And your mind is the key to your body&#8217;s success. </p>

You have most probably seen hundreds of fat-free foods on every shelf at your local grocery store. &#8220;Low-Fat&#8221; and &#8220;Fat-Free&#8221; products seem to be everywhere now and almost all popular food items come in a low-fat version.</p>

<p>Contrary to popular belief, substituting an equal amount of fat calories for carb calories does not always lead to a loss of weight. One of the most common mistakes people make to lose weight is to drastically cut back on the amount of calories they consume.</p>
<p>People this thinking that if they cut back on lots of calories, the body will be forced to take fat from the body and use it for energy. Then all you do is eat hardly any food for a few weeks and presto! you will have a new slim body. Wrong.</p>

Have you ever wondered why you always get a diet program with any new ab machine you just purchased which they insist that you use?</p>
<p><b>The reason is simple.</b></p>
<p>They know that by doing just a few minutes of ab exercises each day, you are never going to make much of a difference to your amount of body fat or to the size of your stomach. These machines do work though and can give you those rock-hard abs, but you won&#8217;t be able to see them if they are covered by layers of ugly fat.</p>
<p>These machines are made to strengthen and tone your ab muscles. After using them for a few weeks without seeing any results, they will usually just end up gathering dust in the garage somewhere until the next greatest ab machine gets released and you think to yourself that &#8220;This might be the one&#8221;.</p>
<p>Some of these exercise devices are so questionable that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) launched &#8220;Project ABSurd&#8221; against the makers of the AB Energizer, Abtronic, and Fast Abs in 2002.</p>
<p>According to FTC Chairman Timothy Muris, &#8220;These electronic abs gadgets don&#8217;t do a thing to turn a bulging beer belly into a sleek six pack stomach.&#8221; The government then sued these three different manufacturers of these machines for false advertising.</p>
<p>If you are already slim and have slightly visible abdominal muscles, then these exercise devices are great to make them look more defined. That is why the attractive models on the commercials have such sexy waistlines.</p>
<p>They did not get their sexy figures by using the advertised machine. They would have followed a healthy, balanced diet along with many hours in the gym.</p>
<p>They also probably never even laid their eyes on the machine they were promoting until the day of the photo or infomercial shoot and have timed their training and diets in order to be in absolute peak physical condition for that one day.</p>
<p>The other type of ab exerciser is known as an Electronic Muscle Stimulator (EMS), that delivers an electric charge to make your muscles contract.</p>
<p>John Porcari, a professor of exercise and sports science at the University of Wisconsin, tested an EMS device similar to those on the market in a study commissioned by the American Council on Exercise. After eight weeks of using the device only, participants had no significant increases in muscle size or strength.</p>
<p><b>The bottom line is this:</b></p>
<p>A few minutes of ab exercises daily will not burn away the fat from your belly. You need to remember that by doing only ab exercises, you will not accomplish much when it comes to reducing your weight. Also, a study conducted and released by the American Council on Exercise also confirmed this.</p>
<p>The study stated that these machines did not out-perform the standard crunch exercise, which means most of these ab machines are a total waste of money.</p>
<p>If you are overweight and want to have a well-defined and sexy stomach, you will need to add other exercises to your regime such as weight training and maybe some cardio exercise too such as bike riding, rowing and aerobics.</p>
<p>You are also going to have to take notice of what you eat as your diet is probably the most important part of any successful weight loss program.</p>

As I mentioned in a previous post, I&#8217;ve been working with the winners of NBC&#8217;s hit reality show &#8220;The Biggest Loser&#8221; Season 4 Project Team on releasing their amazing weight-loss program Online.</p>
